The Black Stars of Ghana were held to a 1-1 draw by South Africa’s national team in a friendly international played in Durban Tuesday.
The Black Stars are winless in their last three games and were hoping for a friendly win to bring them back on track, but an early goal was pegged back by the South Africans who were playing before a teeming crowd at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban.
Mubarak Waksaso converted a first half spot kick to give Ghana the lead, capitalising on the mistake of a South Africa defender, who tripped up full back Harrison Afful in the box.
But the Bafana Bafana were level soon after the break, with Ayando Patosi scoring following a sublime assist from Sibusiso Vilakazi.
The game petered out after that, as the Black Stars extend their winless streak to four games.
They are back in action next month when they take on Egypt in the 2nd round 2018 world cup qualifier, already two points off the pace after drawing the first home game.
