Penalty Miss Against Uruguay 'Haunts Me' Every Once In A While But Has Made Me A Stronger Man – Asamoah Gyan

Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan has admitted his penalty miss six years ago in the 2010 World Cup haunts his dreams to this very day.
Gyan was speaking in South Africa ahead of the Star’s upcoming friendly against the Bafana Bafana when he was asked if being in the country reminded him of the dreaded penalty miss from 2010.
Gyan said whilst being in South Africa does not especially bring back those times, the miss haunts him from time to time.
“It’s not only when I’m in South Africa that I think about that penalty.” Gyan said. “It’s been haunting me once in a while but it has made me a strong man,”
“Returning to South Africa is always special because they showed us so much love during that tournament,” Gyan added.

Gyan took the crucial penalty in that 2010 world cup quarter final game against Uruguay after Luiz Suarez’s infamous handball, a last minute kick that would have sent Ghana to the semi final, making her the first African nation to do so.
