Two pastors forgot all about their calling and were immersed in just the profit motive, leading to a brawl over a preaching spot that eventually led to both their arrests.
Nothing sums up how commercial religion has become in Ghana quite like this spectacle.
According to Adomonline, the incident occurred at the Drobo market in the Brong Ahafo region. One of the evangelists usually occupied a very prime position for his sermons, where he usually makes a lot of money.
However, when he fell sick and was unable to come for two days, another enterprising preacher took over the spot, and refused to give it up when the original owner returned.
Thus the two started going at each other, fighting in the market. Their fight eventually led to their arrest.
The Jaman South District Police Command, ASP Stephen Ofori Akrasi confirmed the incident to Adom News. He said both would be granted bail but would be charged with Section 298 of the Public Order Act for disturbing the public peace.
