Abedi And Andre Ayew Debunk Claims The Soccer Maestro Is Dead

Ghanaians specialise in the unhealthy practice of killing off our heroes before their time – and Abedi Ayew Pele was the latest victim of the treatment Friday night.
A rumour started by a couple of unscrupulous websites claimed that the legendary former Black Stars captain was dead after being taken by a short illness.
Some on twitter were taken aback by the news and it started spreading like wildfire.
But not short after, both Abedi Pele and his son Andre came out to rubbish the rumour. Pele told Citi Sports, off record, that he’s alive and well, and didn’t want to go on the record concerning a ‘hoax’.
Abedi’s son, Black Stars vice captain and West Ham United forward Andre Ayew also told local site Ghanasoccernet that the news was a hoax.
He said: “My dad is alive and very well. He has not suffered from any sickness or illness and has not received any treatment in France. The reports are complete lies and a hoax,”
Abedi Pele is generally considered the greatest Ghanaian player of all time, and was the Black Stars top scorer until Asamoah Gyan took over that record. He’s also father to two current stars, Andre and Jordan. It’s not a surprise that he would be killed before his time.
His spokesperson also tackled the rumours on twitter.
