Assin North MP and the most bombastic man in Parliament, Kennedy Agyapong, says the infamous ‘Ayarikof’ from the 2012 Presidential debates was a planned stunt for which Hassan Ayariga was paid.
Kennedy Agyapong made the allegation during an appearance on Asempa Fm Tuesday.
“A close confidant of Hassan Ayariga has come out to openly confess this to me that Hassan Ayariga was paid huge sums of money to do that…to cough just to distract Nana Akufo-Addo…,” Agyapong, who was fuming over recent attacks by Ayariga against Nana Addo, said.
Hassan Ayariga become the laughingstock of Ghana politics back in 2012 when he kept coughing whilst on stage during the IEA Presidential debates. The comically timed coughs earned him the nickname ‘Ayarikof’ – and led to the PNC booting him out when he sought the flagbearership again for this year’s elections.
