The most loved and most famous club in Ghanaian football history, Accra Great Olympics, have made a return to the promised land of the Ghana Premier League.
The Wonder Club beat Tudu Mighty Jets 2-1 in Teshie Sunday to top Zone III of the Division One League and claim the sole qualification ticket available to the top flight – all with one game to spare.
Oly Dade makes their return after slipping back to the Second Division following relegation during their last stint in the top flight. That makes it three times in the last six seasons that Olympics have alternated between the top flight and the second division.
We’ll now enjoy Olympics and their hard core fans and their thousand nicknames – at least for another season until they get relegated again.
