Actress Marion Cotillard has issued a public statement, her only one on the issue, she says, concerning rumours linking her to the split of Hollywood power couple Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie.
Reports emanating soon after the divorce of Brangelina became public seemed to suggest Cotillard, who starred with Pitt in the WW II drama ‘Allied’ – was cheating with Brad Pitt and was thus the cause of the divorce.
The reports claimed Jolie hired a private eye who made this discovery.
But 40 year old Cottilard, who is pregnant with her second child with long time boyfriend Guillaume Canet, wrote a post on Instagram to dispel the rumours. She reiterated her respect for the pair as professionals and the love between her and her partner, who she unequivocally named as the cause of her current pregnancy.

This is going to be my first and only reaction to the whirlwind news that broke 24 hours ago and that I was swept up into.

I am not used to commenting on things like this nor taking them seriously, but as this situation is spiraling and affecting people I love, I have to speak up.

Firstly, many years ago, I met the man of my life, father of our son and of the baby we are expecting. He is my love, my best friend, the only one that I need.

Secondly to those who have indicated that I am devastated, I am very well thank you. This crafted conversation isn’t distressing.

Finally, I do very much wish that Angelina and Brad, both whom I deeply respect, will find peace in this very tumultuous moment. With all my love, Marion.

With Angelina Jolie ‘snagging’ Pitt off of Aniston whilst they were filming a movie, it seemed inevitable that similar reports would crop up during this divorce. Cotillard says unequivocally that they are simply not true.
