The suspect in the bombing in New York Saturday which injured 29 people has been arrested after a tense shootout with police.
Ahmad Khan Rahami was identified by the FBI as the suspect in the bombing, and was found earlier today, although he tried fighting back against law enforcement on the scene to arrest him.
He got involved in a shootout with officers, hitting two and getting hit himself, but was eventually grabbed and put in custody.
Khan is an Afghan born US citizen who had been named as the main suspect in Saturday’s bombing. A bar owner in Linden, New Jersey, reportedly found him sleeping in his hallway and recognised him from the wanted poster, and called police.
Khan reportedly fired on the first officer to approach him, hitting his vest, and then engaging in the shootout until his capture. He hit another officer in the hand.
He got hit himself, and had to be carted away under heavy guard in an ambulance. Khan is believed to be responsible for the bomb in New York, another one that was found unexploded nearby, and several others found in New Jersey all over the weekend.
