Nigerian pastor Chris Oyakhilome has attacked his ex-wife, and the media, for his recent divorce which, to hear him tell it – he’s entirely blameless for.
Chris recently preached a ragingly misogynistic sermon in which he said women would lose their beauty if they didn’t serve their husbands every need unreservedly- perhaps explaining why a strong woman might decide to dump his backwards a**.
Speaking out on his divorce in a recent sermon, he apportioned blame to his wife, Anita, saying that Christians should not get divorced and if it happened to him, it’s because she forced it.
“If you are married to a man of God, it doesn’t make you automatically mature, you can make mistakes.” he said, forgetting that taking out ‘married to’ still leaves the sentence a valid one.
If you are a man of God, it doesn’t make you automatically mature, you can make mistakes – I bet he has never thought of that.
The rest of his rant attacks the media and again, Anita, painting himself as entirely blameless in the divorce.
“I understand that some media houses particularly in Nigeria, and may be in South Africa have been writing some real stupid things with frivolous charges. That’s crazy. I wasn’t accused of those things you said, nor did I commit those stupid things that you said.
“I’m not a preacher, I’m a man of God. When it comes to Rev Anita, pray for her. If you are married to a man of God, it doesn’t make you automatically mature, you can make mistakes. Christians should not have a divorce, it shouldn’t be. But that doesn’t mean a Christian should not take this step, they may, but that doesn’t make it right, and we shouldn’t take one another to court. But when it happens, we are not the one going there, someone is taking us there. That’s the problem.”
