Visiting the loo may not be rocket science but apparently we have been doing it all wrong. It’s a lot harder than you and I imagined with far-reaching consequences if we don’t get it right.
Many medical experts agree that there’s a science to pooing and positioning is key— according to many recent studies, the 90 degree-sitting position puts a lot of strain on the colon while also blocking the free movement of waste.
The associated health risks of maintaining a sitting position in the loo include constipation ,colon disease, hemorrhoids, pelvic floor issues, urinary difficulty/infections and even heart attack!
Dr. Mercola, who has conducted extensive research in that field says the evidence points to this.
“If you examine the data, there is a great deal of evidence this is true. The modern toilet has required us to change the position we use to evacuate our bowels, which changes the anatomy of… well, a poop, to put it bluntly.”
So the next time you visit the loo, be sure you squat your way through it.
