Oscar Pistorius’ life has taken a drastic turn for the worse from some dizzying heights, since the 2013 murder of his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp – and now one of his immortal accomplishments have also been brought tumbling down.
New Zealand blade runner Liam Malone, running in the 200m final in Rio’s Paralympic Games, has broken the world record, which was held by Oscar Pistorius.
Malone finished in 21.06 seconds, to clinch gold and shatter the former record of 21.30s set by the South African.
“I wouldn’t be here without those blades in the first instance.” Malone, whose blades were bought via donations from the public, expressed gratitude to them after the win. “I’m filled with gratitude to everyone who invested in me from the start,”
Malone won silver as well in the 100m final.
