Ghana is generally seen as a beacon of democracy on a continent usually plagued by non democratic regimes.
We’ve held six relatively free and fair elections since the return to multiparty democracy in 1992, and steered clear of any serious electoral violence in that time.
The stakes for this year’s elections couldn’t be higher, with either party not ready to lose, so the possibility of violence is one that has been discussed over and over and over again.
Many believe Ghana, which I call a country full of cowards, can never degenerate into electoral conflict, but it remains a possibility nevertheless.
It’s thus probably a good thing to have a sense of humor about the situation, which is what social media is best at.
One user have posted up a list of ten reasons why conflict would never hit Ghana. It’s a little hilarious list but which has a nugget of truth to it.
