The national minimum wage has been raised by 10%, three months from the crucial December elections, although it probably had no effect on the decision making – or so they say.
The national tripartite committee announced the decision earlier today (Tuesday), after a crucial tripartite committee meeting involving main stakeholders such as the Employment and Labour Ministry and Organised Labour.
The wage increase sees the national minimum wage move from Ghc 8 to Ghc 8.80.
The last minimum wage increase occurred at the turn of the year when it went up from Ghc 7 to Ghc 8.
