Rev Martey Says He Won't Name Those Politicians Who Attempted To Bribe Him

The outgoing moderator of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Rev Emmanuel Martey, has held to his position that he’s not going to name those who allegedly bribed him, saying he doesn’t concentrate on personalities but rather on raising the important issues.
Rev Professor Martey caused quite the stir last week when he alleged during a press conference that some unnamed politicians had attempted to bribe him with $100,000, a vehicle and a house with a pool at Trasacco, a bribe he had refused.
The comment has since set off a firestorm of political commentary, with calls for the Rev to name those he claims tried to bribe him. He has consistently refused to do so.
Speaking over the weekend  at the Presbyterian College of Education at Abetifi in the Eastern Region, Rev Martey maintained his stance.
“They also say those who attempted to bribe professor Martey, if we give the names, we’ll all be happy. But you go back, I’ve been consistent. Never before have I mentioned any name, even those who mention my name and insult me,” he said.
“I don’t discuss personalities, I discuss issues. Issues of corruption, issues of bribery, issues of malfeasance, issues of reckless dissipation of public funds, issues of incompetence. I have never mentioned personalities because I don’t discuss personalities.” he added.
In other news, Prophet Kumchacha says the Rev is headed to hell if he refuses to name those who tried to bribe him.
