The Managing Editor of the Insight Newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Jnr, has waded into the bribery scandal going on regarding the outgoing moderator of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Rev Prof Emmanuel Martey.
According to Kwesi Pratt, as far as he’s concerned, the entire story is a cock and bull one cooked up by the esteemed Rev, who in his opinion is tarnishing the reputation of the Presbyterian church in Ghana.
Mr Pratt was speaking on Saturday’s Alhaji and Alhaji programme.
“I still can’t get the motive of this bribe story from the Moderator and what his former PRO also said. It could be that both of them are telling lies or telling the truth. Seriously, I see it as a Kwaku Ananse story.” he said.
“My problem is why the Moderator didn’t talk about issues relating to his church at the press conference but chose to talk about politics and what politicians are doing and not doing?
“He is just destroying the church and I think members of the church have the responsibility to correct it even when he is out” he added.
Reverend Professor Emmanuel Martey ‘revealed’ last week that some politicians have attempted silencing him by offering him some bribes.
Professor Martey, who is well known for his outspoken views on matters of national import, said that he was offered as much as $100,000 to keep his mouth shut by some politricktians – although he named no names nor fingered no parties.
“Politicians have tried all means to muzzle me, to get me but they can’t. They come with bribes, fat envelopes, $100, 000…I want everybody to listen that politicians came to my house with $100, 000 and also with the promises that if you keep quiet we will give you a house at Trasaaco with swimming pool.” he said.
“We will give you Four Wheel drive [vehicle] but you know what, these people were lucky that I do not have big dogs in my house else I would have released the dogs for them to bite them.” he added.
