Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan has opened up on what caused his move to English side Reading to fail, saying that contrary to reports, it had nothing to do with him failing his medicals.
The Black Stars captain was all set to join the club when the deal fell through, with reports emerging that Gyan failed his medicals, after it was found his physical condition was not going to be optimum for another eight weeks.
But the Ghana captain, speaking to Joy News’ Gary Al-Smith, debunked the reports going around. According to him, the move fell through because the club wanted him to forfeit his role with the Ghana national team, a condition he refused.
This is all very strange, that a club would try to sign a national team captain and tell him not to play for the national team. This smells so much like spin.
