August 31. The end of the European Transfer window is always a hotly anticipated day, and one on which many, many deals for top stars are finalised. It is the last salvo of a two month rush of madness before the football world settles down until January 1st.
Ghanaian players are numerous in Europe’s top leagues, thus it is nearly inevitable that many move around during a transfer season. But what happened this window is nearly unprecedented, with numerous top Ghanaian stars changing clubs, for numerous reasons.
Some were deemed surplus to requirements at old clubs, some actually advanced their careers with their moves, whilst others just wanted a change of scenery. What they all had in common was that a big player who currently or has in the past featured prominently for the Stars was on the move.
These included both our captain and his deputy – it was indeed a huge window for Ghanaian players .
