Presby Church Moderator Professor Emmanuel Martey Says Politicians Attempted To Buy His Silence On Critical National Issues With $100,000 Bribe

Rev Emmanuel Martey

The outgoing moderator of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, the Reverend Professor Emmanuel Martey, has ‘revealed’ that some politicians have attempted silencing him by offering him some cash.
Professor Martey, who is well known for his outspoken views on matters of national import, said that led to him being offered as much as $100,000 to keep his mouth shut by some politricktians – although he named no names nor fingered no parties.
The clergyman was speaking at a presser in the capital Tuesday.
“Politicians have tried all means to muzzle me, to get me but they can’t. They come with bribes, fat envelopes, $100, 000…I want everybody to listen that politicians came to my house with $100, 000 and also with the promises that if you keep quiet we will give you a house at Trasaaco with swimming pool.” he said.
“We will give you Four Wheel drive [vehicle] but you know what, these people were lucky that I do not have big dogs in my house else I would have released the dogs for them to bite them.” he added.
The preacher has drawn some ire from the ruling NDC for some of his attacks on them, and it’s obvious he might be pointing to elements within the party as having tried to silence him.
