50 Cent has built himself quite the reputation, especially with the success of his Starz tv show ‘Power’ – and now with the right combination of rap and tv experience – he’s just been tapped for a huge honour.
Big Meech, co-founder of the notorious drug ring the Black Mafia Family’ (BMF) – has given exclusive rights to 50 and Randall Emmett, who are the brains behind the series – to tell the BMF story.
50 Cent received a handwritten letter from Meech, real name Demetrius Edward Flenory, from jail giving him the go-ahead. Demetrius and his younger brother Terry, the other half of BMF; are currently serving thirty year jail terms for their notorious drug trafficking.
“…Given the success of your past collaborative efforts on numerous feature films and particularly your television series ‘Power’, I feel that the two of you are the perfect team to tell ‘My story’.” Big Meech wrote in the letter to 50.
The drug lord was involved in the hip hop scene for a while in the early 2000’s, moving about with Jay-Z and Fabolous and other similarly high profile stars. Big Meech and his brother, who goes by ‘Southwest T’ – received 30 year sentences for their crimes in 2008.
