Bishop Obinim gave a lengthy interview to TV3 which aired Monday, in which he responded to the current furore over his decision to flog two wards of his with a belt in church, with the girl actually pregnant at the time.
The Bishop, who is wanted by Police for that act, said that he does not believe he did anything wrong as he was only disciplining his two children who went astray – adding that ‘no sensible police’ officer would take up this case.
In another portion of the interview, the usually brash preacher went into his bragging mode, saying that those who are always ready waiting for his missteps to come in hard on him are playing with fire, as those fighting him are actually fighting Jesus.
“If you challenge me, you might go to the afterlife first. You will have a fight with Jesus himself.” he said in the interview.”
“My critics don’t have more sense than God. If they want a fight with Jesus, they should come.”
Obinim added that if something had happened to the child, Ghanaians and the law would hold him accountable.
He further added that wherever he is taken to, he would swear by everything that it was Jesus who instructed him to do it. That is his defence.
