Counci Of State Recommends Montie 3 Be Pardoned – Report

Ghana’s Council of State, after studying the petition presented to them by the President for advise, have decided to come down on the side of a pardon.
Local newspaper the Daily Post reports that after deliberating on the issue, the Council have decided that the President should show mercy and commute the sentences of the jailed Montie 3.
The three – Godwin Ako Gunn, Alistair Nelson and Salifu Maase – were jailed four months for contempt after threatening Supreme Court justices.
A petition was then launched for their freedom which was presented to the President, who handed it off to the Council of State for their constitutionally mandated input.
According to this report, they have returned their verdict, and have decided the President should release the three. It is now up to the President to make his final decision.
