The opposition NPP has come out with allegations of impropriety against the First Lady, Lordina Mahama – who they claim is using state coffers to fund the work of her foundation – which she is in turn using to ‘buy votes’ for the ruling NDC.
The party’s acting General Secretary, John Boadu, speaking on Citi Eyewitness News Wednesday, claimed that the Lordina Mahama Foundation has inexplicably increased its works as elections heat up, serving as a tool to win votes for the NDC. He wondered whether Ghana’s money was not being used to finance all these.
“We are in an election year and all of a sudden we are seeing goodies being shared by the First Lady. We are seeing Lordina Foundation across the country sharing goodies to the people.” he said.
“The wife of the President of the Republic is going around the country, with a fleet of trucks load of goodies, which she is sharing for votes. These run into millions of dollars.
“The First Lady should be kind enough to let us know whether the goodies were procured with her own money.” he added.
