Baba Jamal Says President Mahama Should Not Pardon The Montie 3 Because It Would Be A Bad Political Move

‘Montie 3’

The MP for Akwatia and Deputy Minister for Employment, Baba Jamal, says the President should not pardon the Montie 3 under any circumstances.
Baba Jamal, though, is not taking any principled stance against the President potentially undermining of the judiciary – he is just concerned with what looks good politically for the President.
Speaking on Starr Chat Wednesday, Baba Jamal said that whilst he signed the petition, he doesn’t believe the President should pardon the three, since it would be a wrong move for his career.
“Let me tell you something interesting; I believe that the president shouldn’t give them the pardon.” Jamal told Nana Aba Anamoah, who was hosting the show.

“The pardon will not be something that will be in the interest of the president as an individual through his political career [and] what he has done for this country to go out with that colour.” he added.
“So I signed out of solidarity, but I believe that it is not the best solution to grant a presidential pardon,”
According to him, the lawyers of the three could go for a review, if they wanted their clients out of jail – because for him, the pardon is a no-no.
