American Gold medalists and stars at Rio Olympics Michael Phelps, Simone Biles and Katie Ledecky star on the 11th cover of Sports Illustrated magazine’s new issue after wining 15 medals between them.
Michael Phelps won five golds and a silver in Rio, taking his total to 28 Olympic medals, 23 of them gold. Having come out of retirement to compete in Rio, the 31-year-old won five golds and a silver at these, his fifth Games. Afterwards, he admitted it had been an emotional night.
Katie Ledecky sealed her fourth gold medal in Rio on Friday night, winning the 800-meter freestyle in her second straight Olympic Games and posting a new world record. Her time of 8:04.79 broke her own world record mark of 8:06.68, in her final race of the Rio Games.
Simone Biles secured her fourth gold medal of Rio 2016—Biles, 19, scored 15.966 to take the title and add to her all-around, vault and team gold medals.
