The counter petition launched by the Progressive People’s Party (PPP) to oppose the one calling for the President to grant a pardon to the ‘Montie 3’ has been stolen!
The petition, which has so far garnered over 1,700 signatures, was reportedly stolen from the offices of the party at Assylum Down in Accra Tuesday, where people have been gathering to affix their signatures.
The booklet with the signatures was reportedly lifted by three young men who visited and posed as interested in signing it. Instead, they took off with it. A second booklet containing less signatures was left intact.
The PPP’s petition rose as a response to an earlier one calling on the President to pardon the Montie 3 – the two panellists and a show host who were jailed four months for contempt after threatening the lives of judges. The first petition calling for their release has been presented to the President already – but it seems this one would never be.
