The extreme gullibility of many Ghanaian women which manifests itself everytime religion is put on the table was painfully evident in this coming case.
Whether it be requests of money or to open their legs, many women who put their all into their faith fail to reason when push comes to shove. It’s not entirely unique to women but they undoubtedly provide the best targets.
A man has been arrested in Accra after impersonating the founder and leader of the International Godsway Ministries, Bishop Daniel Obinim, in order to grab a girl he wanted who had refused him, as well as to swindle her out of some cash.
According to Graphic Online, the perpetrator, Felix Tetteh-fio, was in love with a woman, who he chased for over a year without any success. After discovering she was a member of Obinim’s church, the wily criminal tried a different tack.
He opened a Facebook account under the name of Bishop Daniel Obinim, accompanied by a photo of the man. He then proceeded to send the girl a friend request, and then started grooming her to be his puppet.
He instructed her to accept his proposal (Felix Tetteh-fio’s), which she gladly did, and also duped her out of Ghc 4,000 as well as a laptop valued at Ghc 2,000.
The victim, whose name is being withheld by police, only discovered the scam when a friend who had suffered a similar ordeal narrated her predicament to her, and they both realised they had suffered the same fate.
The two then reported the case to the police, who picked up the suspect. He reportedly admitted the offence in his caution statement.
