Former Fifa President Joao Havelange Dead At 100

Former President of the world football governing body Fifa, Joao Havelange, has passed away at the age of 100.
Havelange died in Rio de Janeiro earlier today (Tuesday).
The Brazilian was Fifa President for close to three decades – from 1974 until 1998 – when he was replaced by Sepp Blatter. He served as honorary President from then till April 2013 when he resigned.
Havelange supervised many reforms to the game during his time in charge at Fifa, including increasing the world cup from 16-32 teams and introducing world cups at the youth and junior levels. But like his successor Blatter, he later became dogged with allegations of bribery and was the target of several investigations.
A former swimmer, he also served on the International Olympic Committee from 1963 to 2011.
