Excellence in Broadcasting Indeed–None of EIB Network's Radio Stations Was Listed in MFWA's On-Air Indecent Language Report

Despite EIB Network currently owning 9 vibrant radio stations in Ghana, the highest owned by a single private media network in Ghana–The Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA), a media watchdog, did not mention any of its numerous radio stations as liable for on-air indecent language usage in its released July monitoring report.
MFWA has today released a report which indicts several radio stations including Montie Fm, Happy Fm, Peace Fm, Okay Fm and Adom Fm for leading the usage of indecent language on the Ghanaian airwaves–somewhat indicating non adherence to established broadcasting standards.
Interestingly, all EIB network’s radio stations were in the clear–an affirmation that the network has an effective language monitoring policy and clothes itself in professionalism, far beyond its competitors.
This is a commendable feat considering the fact that MFWA says its report “aims at encouraging people to be measured in their use of language by naming and shaming those who use abusive expressions on radio. Ultimately, the project seeks to contribute to peaceful elections by making political discourse on radio more issues-based rather than the use of abusive expressions that could foment elections-related violence.”
One of the gravest crimes against humanity, the Rwandan genocide, largely took its atrocious shape and beginnings from mere radio incitement of hatred. Therefore, the role radio has to play in any democracy, especially when there’s already hovering political tension as a result of the upcoming elections in Ghana cannot be undermined.
