Sammy Awuku: John Dumelo Should Not Have Spoken At the NDC Campaign Launch–It Should Have Been the National Youth Organiser

John Dumelo at NDC Campaign Launch

NPP’s National Youth Organiser-Sammy Awuku has expressed shock and disappointed that Ghanaian actor-John Dumelo was given the platform to speak at NDC’s campaign launch yesterday in Cape Coast instead of the party’s Youth Organiser.
According to Sammy Awuku, it’s out of place for the NDC’s National Youth Organiser-Sidii Abubakar not to be given a slot to speak and yet John Dumelo, who just joined the political party to be given a slot, just after former President Jerry John Rawlings spoke.
“I was very sad and still sad to have seen John Dumelo at the podium speaking when in fact the NDC has a Youth Organizer. It is a sad story because they have a youth organizer who is supposed to speak to the youth and not John Dumelo. Indeed, NDC has sidelined my friend Sidii Abubakar and I’m very sad” Awuku said in an interview.
He continued: “It was the biggest platform for the NDC in which a youth leader was supposed to be given the opportunity to inspire the youth. What is left on the bill for them is their manifesto launch which I’m sure will be a collection of the elite and Regional Executives.
“But on a big platform where you had close to 20,000 people listening to you and if their youth leader was denied that opportunity for Actor John Dumelo to be replaced and mount the podium to speak then I think it’s very sad,” he added.
As part of John Dumelo’s speech, he explained how he became a member of the NDC, saying, “I decided to join the NDC after I met a certain group of people whose message didn’t convince me.”
