Sprinter Kariman Abuljadayel won many hearts and support of various women groups as the first woman from Saudi Arabia to ever compete in the heats of the 100 metres at the Olympics–and she was a hijab.
She may not have won her race but made history by competing in the 100m, finishing seventh in a preliminary heat.
Kariman Abuljadayel stood out from her competitors in a full-body kit and hijab and she was praised heavily online for her efforts.
And there was another, Kamia Yousufi from Afghanistan also competed in a hijab and full body suit, finishing last in her heat.
She force. I’m not a Muslim but I’m proud of her.
