You might think this year’s WASSCE results were bad, but fear not, they aren’t as bad as they used to be, according to our President anyway.
The disastrous results of the exams, in which over 2/3’s of students failed Math, with barely better numbers in other subjects, seems to have reignited the debate over whether SHS should be for four or three years.
The issue, a political one as it is with most in the country, has seen the NDC and NPP take sides on opposite ends.
President Mahama has thus come out to defend the three year system, saying it has produced better results year after year than when the four year was being run.
The President posted a graph to twitter with results of the WASSCE for the past decade or so, indicating that the best pass percentage occurred in the years with the three years rather than the four years module.
“The call for a return to 4yr SHS is uncalled for. 3yrs SHS is doing far better as evidenced in the graph.” he wrote.
We humbly ask for your source, Mr President. And, also, a 24% pass rate is not exactly revolutionary.
