Highlife singer Daasebre Gyamenah would be finally sent home in October, with the funeral slated for Saturday, October 14, his family has announced.
The highlife great died unexpectedly last month, and whilst a Muslim, his family held back on the customary burial within 24 hours to give him a ritual send-off.
The family noted at the time that the decision was due to his royal blood, and a family source has informed Starr that the Muslim community would carry out their rites on him before his final funeral rites.
“As part of the burial activities, the family has decided that they will release the remains of Daasebre Dwamenah to the Muslim people. Before he died, he was a Muslim not by birth but he decided to convert to Muslim when he grew up so they have decided to release the body to the Muslim people to perform all the rights, but as part of the tradition of New Juaben, they are going to lay Daasebre at Koforidua for everyone to see what is happening,” the family source said.
The final rites and burial would then be held for the late crooner.
