The likelihood that this was an inside job has to be relatively high, as I find it difficult to believe anyone can be so incompetent. But then this is Ghana we are talking about, so such cluelessness might not be entirely out of place.
The office of the Kwesimintsim District Police Commander in the Sekondi-Takoradi metropolis has been burgled, with cash exhibits to the tune of Ghc 40,000 carted away.
According to Graphic Online, the theft took off last Friday, with the thiefs breaking into the office of the District Commander. They managed to enter the enter the police station, find the office, break into it, open the vault that contained the cash, and take off.
Yet the officers on duty during the night of the burglary claim they did not see anything untoward, and are thus stymied as to how the said robbery took place.
The theft was only discovered by the commander when he came to work the next day, with those on duty expressing surprise.
Complicity or gross incompetence, the options before these officers are not exactly appealing.
Investigations are currently ongoing.
