Metro Tv’s Good Evening Ghana host, Paul Adom Otchere, has emphatically denied that he was ever in consideration to be named the running mate of the People’s National Convention (PNC).
The Party’s chairman Bernard Mornarh had said on TV3 Monday that the party was considering some candidates for the position, of which Mr Otchere was one. 
“If you look at Paul, he’s versatile, he appears to know the subjects that he treats very well; whether they are in economics, they’re in security, they’re in any field. He has handled a considerable topics in this country and has shown enough depth in those areas,” he said.
But Paul in a quick rebuttal, has said that he shouldn’t be considered for the post. He said in a previous interview with the flagbearer, the subject of the party’s search for a running mate had come up, and he had jokingly offered himself for the position. Besides that, he wasn’t in any way connected to the party, and therefore asked for himself to be taken out of the search.

I have heard the suggestions by Bernard Mornah, Chairman of PNC that Dr Edward Mahama, the presidential candidate of the PNC is considering me for the position of “running mate ” to complete his presidential ticket for election 2016 .
Dr Mahama had graciously granted an interview to me on Good Evening Ghana during which I put a question about the selection of his running mate , whilst he pondered over the question I jokingly offered myself for the position and he promised to consider it . That’s how far this story goes .
During my work as a broadcast journalist throughout the 4 key elections that I have covered spanning a period of over 16 years , I have endevored to pay attention to “smaller ” parties as I notice that they approach the electioneering with more fidelity towards the process and to the destiny of our great country. They do not carry the huge political interest and the high stakes with which the two big parties often approach the process ..That way , they are able to formulate real ideas and create the test by which we measure the big parties . From the Reform Party to the UGM and the PPP, they have all provided great and novel ideas for the development of our country .
I am not to be considered for the running mate of the PNC because I am not a member of the PNC.
I am excited that Dr. Edward Mahama is back to the playing field of the political process because he offers real food for thought .
