One member of the now infamous ‘Montie 3’, show host Salifu Maaase, popularly known as ‘Mugabe’, is facing what we would call ‘double wahala’, after he was served with papers for a second case whilst suffering under the yoke of the first.
Mugabe and Madam Akua Donkor have both been sued for defamation by the Black Stars skipper Asamoah Gyan, after they alleged that Gyan was a major NPP financier.
Lawyers for Gyan have confirmed that they intend to keep pursuing the case despite Maase’s cuurent incarceration, and he was served with papers on the day that the judgement was handed down.
“The bailiff informed us that he has served Mr Maase but we have not heard from Akua Donkor,” Kissi Agyebeng, lawyer for the Shanghai SIPG striker told Graphic Online.
“That is the Supreme Court and they have handed down judgement. That doesn’t concern him, he instructed me to serve suit and we are still pursuing the case.”
Mugabe, alongside Alistair Nelson and Nelson Ako Gunn, were part of a panel on Montie Fm weeks ago that threatened several Supreme Court justices over their handling of the Electoral Commission’s case over the voter’s register.
The trio were thus tried and convicted of contempt of the nation’s highest court, and sentenced to four months imprisonment, and a fine of Ghc 10,000.
The case has since generated massive national interest, with huge pressure from the NDC for the activists to be granted a Presidential pardon.
