A group of scientists tracking height growth of citizens of various nations across a 100 year period has come out with some fascinating findings about global height patterns.
The researchers, from the Imperial College in London, tracked patterns between 1914 and 2014 to release their findings, which showed the Netherlands have the tallest men in the world whilst Latvia has the tallest women.
Published in the journal e-Life, the research shows whilst Europeans (and Asians especially) have grown taller over time, other locations like sub-Saharan Africa have actually decreased in height.
Countries like Japan, China and South Korea have had the biggest height increases, with Uganda and Sierra Leone the biggest falls.
The research used the standard of the average height of an 18 year old citizen.
Variations in height are down to genetic factors, but can be greatly influenced by other factors such as environmental and nutritional.
