The President, John Dramani Mahama, on Monday carried out the inauguration of the newly built ‘John Evans Atta Mills Presidential Library’ in the former’s President’s home region.
The Atta Mills Memorial library was built in honour of the former President at the Chapel Square in Cape Coast, and its inauguration forms part of activities to commemorate the four year anniversary of his death.
President Mills died in July 2012 after serving most of his first four year term, and was succeeded by his vice John Mahama. Mahama, speaking at the event, noted Atta Mills’ most admired quality.
“As president he was Asomdwehene and father for all. A peace-loving man, he prioritized peace above all else because as he always rightly stated without peace, there can be no progress. He was our rock of Gibraltar, always calm even in the most adverse circumstances,” he said.
