The BBC has announced the winner of the second annual Komla Dumor award, Nigerian journalist Didi Akinyelure.
A panel of judges settled on the Nigerian news anchor, who also presents business news for the continent wide CNBC channel.
The award, in honour of the Ghanaian presenter it was named after, was established last year. Komla died in 2014 of heart failure.
“He told the African story with so much passion for the continent, giving a balanced view and inspiring so many.” the award winner said of Mr Dumor.
As part of her rewards for picking up the coveted honour, Ms Akinyelure would join the BBC for a three month stretch starting September.

The first edition of the award was won by Ugandan news anchor Nancy Kacungira.
