Our Clownish IGP Says He Still Stands By His Election Day Social Media Ban

IGP- John Kudalor

I wonder what has to be said for it to penetrate this man’s skull that we live in a democratic country and have values and principles such as free speech.
The Inspector General of Police of the Ghana Police Service, John Kudalor, has reiterated his plans to ban social media on Ghana’s election day.
The service attempted to walk back the despotic and clownish statement a while ago with claims it was just a suggestion, but the IGP has gone back to it again whilst speaking in the Eastern Region.
“Social media is used to churn out untruths and half-baked truths and finally lies…we as the Police will not sit down for this to happen, we shall recommend that the Social Media is banned for the seven or eight hours that the election will take place after all it is nothing but Ghana first and I still stand by that,” Kudalor said whilst speaking to fellow Police officers.
It’s good to know that Ghana is more like Turkey than the US when it comes to our commitments to the ideals of democracy. I’m sure Mahama would appreciate the comparison to the tyrant Erdogan.
