Victoria Azarenka
Belarusian tennis star and former world no.1, Victoria Azarenka, has announced a slight hiatus from the sport as she has discovered some great news.
Azarenka announced that she’s pregnant with her first child, and consequently taking a break from the sport.
She’s due at the end of this year.
Azarenka, 26, says she plans to fully return to the sport after her birth and give off her best as always.
“I have been truly inspired by so many strong female athletes who return to the very top of their sport after having children, and I plan to do exactly that.” She said in a statement released via twitter.
Azarenka, currently ranked world no.6, is a former two time Australian Open champion, as well as a losing finalist twice at the US Open. She has won Olympic Gold in the mixed doubles as well, during the 2012 Olympics in London.
