Golden State Warriors frontman Draymond Green was picked up by law enforcement on assault charges early Sunday in East Lansing, Michigan.
Green was back home in the state to attend a friend’s wedding when an incident, the particulars of which remain unclear, occurred, leading to his arrest.
Green would be arraigned before court on July 20, and faces up to 93 days in jail (or a $500 fine, or both) if convicted.
The Warriors released a statement on the news.
“We are aware of news involving Draymond Green in Michigan over the weekend. At this point, we are collecting information and will have no further comment until we have a better understanding of the situation.” It read.
Green, 26, was one of the best players for Golden State last season, in which they narrowly lost the NBA finals to Lebron James’ Cavaliers. Green was the Warriors’ best player in a Game 7 where star man Steph Curry failed to turn up.
