It looks like stabbing Boris Johnson in the back and getting him out of the race has done little good for Michael Gove, who has been kicked out of the Tory leadership race after the latest round of voting.
Gove finished a distant third with 46 votes in the latest round of voting, finishing behind Home Secretary Theresa May and Energy Minister Andrea Leadsom with 199 and 84 votes respectively.
The pair thus advance to the final round of voting in September, where the Party’s 150,000 members get to choose the next leader of their party, with May the odds on favourite. The winner would become the Isles’ second ever female Prime Minister, after the indefatigable Margaret Thatcher, of course.
The vote was sparked after David Cameron had to resign his post following his embarrassing loss in the Brexit referendum, where he had backed Remain.
