The truth is, there are only a few black rappers whose lyrics or music would pass for academic studies—in Britain, we have someone like Akala and in Ghana, we’ve found that M.anifest could be our version of rapper-Common, lyrically deep and intellectually stable.
We’ve been combing through the various little things that make M.anifest unique and places his style of music on an enviable landscape following his feud with Sarkodie—out of which fans of both rappers seem not to agree on whose music is deeply relevant, especially beyond Ghana.
Through our surfing, we’ve came across the above research photo of the then Ghanaian student-Nikitta Dede Adjirakor from her University days in Germany’s Bayreuth University—and as you can see, she actually presented one of M.anifest’s songs-Some Way Bi as her research paper that looked at the Poetics of Hiplife.
To have students study and research your music at University level means there’s something worthy in there—even though M.anifest is not a very popular artiste, his song was chosen by Nikitta in 2015 and we think the true M.anifest fans would love to know this…
