MzVee Says Other Countries Supports Their Artists For International Awards More Than Ghanaians Do

mzvee
Dancehall artiste MzVee, straight from participating in her first BET awards – where she was nominated for Best International Act Africa – says she wishes more Ghanaians had supported her bid.
According to the songstress, when she was out there, she saw more support for artists from other countries, unlike down here where most people opposed her nomination.
When news came out that MzVee had been nominated for the 2016 edition of the awards, debates broke out on social media and in the media on whether she deserved to be nominated ahead of other Ghanaian acts.
But she said irrespective of the doubters, her true fans came through for her.
“I definitely had support from my true fans but there were people that didn’t agree with the situation but at the end of the day you cannot get everyone to be in the same boat with you.” She opined.
“It’s like that in every aspect of life. That said I would have wished people supported me much more because when I came to LA other countries were supporting their people and I hope in the future Ghana will do more.
“But I think I got the support I needed from my true fans the tip toers. I’m happy with the turn out.”
MzVee’s comments come from the same mentality which tells us one has to follow their team at all times. Frankly, that’s no different from parochialism, tribalism or nepotism. A situation should be judged on its merits, not whether you share a country with the person or not.
You have to support your people, of course, but it doesn’t mean you have to say black is blue, or vice versa.
