Two Arrested In The Ashanti Region For Stoning And Hooting At The President’s Convoy

Hooting at a convoy can be interpreted as exercising free speech rights, but crossing over into physical violence and stoning it is surely a criminal offence.
That’s probably why these two have been arrested, although knowing this country, I wouldn’t be surprised if in another hypothetical, they are arrested simply for the hooting.
Two people have been picked up by police in Ejisu for allegedly hooting at and stoning the President’s convoy, which was making a procession through their area.
The President was in the area to inspect some projects as part of his ‘Accounting to the People’ tour.
A group of people protesting his presence lined up across the street, and at a point some were hooting at the President and the NDC’s Parliamentary Candidate for November’s parliamentary fight, Gloria Huze.
Some also threw stones at the convoy, reportedly leading to an injury for Huze, who reported the issue to police, leading to the arrest of the two suspects.
Meanwhile, the NDC Regional Secretary claims the hooting was organised by the NPP. Big surprise there.
“It is the NPP of course.” Raymond Tandoh answered when asked who may have been behind the protests.
“The youth organiser of the NPP has spoken that he was part of the group. So who else?” he wondered.
