The two term and perhaps the best president Ghana has ever had-former president Agyekum Kufuor has urged Ghanaian to value their vote.
Every citizen has the suffrage to make a franchise that is if they are of the legal age. The onus is on the citizens of a said society to vote irrespective of one’s skepticism about politicians.
In a country like Ghana where but a few people value the essence of voting, the wind of worry must have hit our former president.
Speaking at a public lecture organised by the Institute of Statistical, Social and Economic Research on Monday, June 27, Kufuor said electing people to manage a nation’s affair is no joke hence Ghanaian must ascribe seriousness to it.
If you have the power to send some people to go and manage your affairs and better your lots don’t play with it,” he said
“Making a wake call on Ghanaian, Kufuor said it is important for the citizens to see governance as an opportunity to improve upon themselves. In a democratic system voting is an evidence of your sovereignty as an individual but if you have the power to send people to go and manage your affairs make use of it,we must learn the positive uses of our power.” he added.
