It’s true that the word celebrity is loosely thrown around in Ghana and mostly the people we tag celebrities are either ashowbrities, ghetto rats or some wannabes.
Ghanaian BET Internatinal Act nominee-MzVee has never played a gig outside Ghana and to her fans, she is a big star—but right across the border in Nigeria, no one seems to know her, including Nigerian musician Yemi Alade.
Both MzVee and Yemi Alade have been nominated in the 2016 Best International Act category and both of them are in LA for the BET Awards—so they met, but it was a little awkward since Yemi did not know what sort of tomatoes MzVee was when clearly MzVee recognised Yemi.
For whatever reason, MzVee proudly uploaded a video of their awkward meeting and though the video has no sound, her instagram followers were smart enough to read the lips of Yemi to find out what they consider a blatant disrespect.
To be frank, MzVee is not such a big musician so it could be well true that Yemi Alade did not truly know her image—though she must have heard of the name, especially as they’ve been all nominated in the same category.
But fans of MzVee got upset and went for Yemi’s head.
