In our local setting, self-pleasuring is one topic most guys shy away from but are heavily indulged in it. Although there is no stigma attached to it, I am yet to see or hear any guy openly talk about it.
The thing is most guys masturbate. They masturbate if they are single, in a bad relationship or in a great relationship. It is just something they do that has nothing to do with their partners.
As we reach puberty our desire for sex can be very strong and we might easily fall or inculcate the habit of self pleasuring.
Masturbation is the sexual act involving the self sexual stimulation of the genitals for sexual arousal or other sexual pleasure usually to the point of orgasm. The stimulation can be performed using a hand, fingers as well as everyday objects or sex toys.
Sex toys is not common in our part of the world so let me scratch the toy in that definition while trying not to stray from the topic. I had varied books on sexuality to know what masturbation means by the time I was 17.
The first time I indulged in it was in the comfort and privacy of our wash room , the door firmly bolted and the pornographic magazine I had stolen from a friend in hand. It was pure pleasure but the guilt I felt after my first time experience was so enormous that I vowed never to go back.
Although psychology and sociology show that self pleasuring is a normal phenomenon in sexual development especially amongst the youth, this does not change the fact that the act is an intrinsically and disordered act.
Well I went back to it in just two weeks and for close to six years, I was the one to go for all things masturbation. I read a lot on it to convince myself the positives far outweigh the negative.
For me masturbation was not only about sex , it was a routine way of relieving stress, clearing my head before going to school or going to sleep.
Sure masturbation is low-risk. It is the safest form of sex possible. No one ever caught an STD from himself or made himself pregnant by masturbating.
I am not here to advocate for the said act but neither am I here to rule it out as appalling and evil.
