Founder of the Ghana-UK Based Achievement Awards (GUBA), Dentaa Amoateng, has been honoured by Queen Elizabeth II as part of her birthday honour.
Known professionally as Dentaa,, the Ghanaian received a Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (MBE), for her efforts bolstering UK-African relations in the diaspora, via her work with GUBA, which she founded in 2009.
GUBA awards British-Ghanaians who contribute positively to the Ghanaian community in the UK or Ghana.
“I am very honoured, blessed and pleased to announce that I have been awarded an MBE on the Queen’s Birthday Honour’s List.” Dentaa said after being granted the honour.
“I am exceptionally humbled as this year is a monumental celebration for the Queen – the 90th Birthday is a significant landmark in history and it feels great to be able to share in it.
“My gratititude goes to God, my family and my team.”
The Queen awarded several other prominent personalities as part of her birthday honours. Rock and roll legend Rod Stewart and Downton Abbey actor Penelope Wilton were both knighted, with footballer Alan Shearer receiving a CBE for his charity work with disabled people. Astronaut Tim Peake and Jamie Murray, younger brother of tennis player Andy, also received various other honours.
