Ghana is a funny country, and a large number of its population makes it so.
For many years, Accra, the capital has been flooding—with lives and properties being lost each year but what’s interesting is that, no strong protest has been mounted on the political class capable of doing something about this annual floods.
And instead of mounting pressure for change right down here, a bunch of prayer warriors gathered behind Ghanaian beat maker/producer-Hammer of the Last Two fame’s house, praying in tongues to God to limit the rains, so the flooding would stop.
Sometimes, you are forced to decide whether these people are insane or just aggressively stupid—but with the two fetching the same outcome, it doesn’t seem to matter where you place them.
On his facebook page, Hammer wrote;
“instead of demonstrating in protest for action the church behind my studio has their prayer warriors speaking in tongues. U can actually hear one of them say “Lord pls limit the rain this year”… Pathetic. Most drainages are choked with sand and all A.M.A does is chase vendors who’re trying to make a living. #accrafloods”
With this sort of mindset, it doesn’t seem like Ghana is going to change—not anytime soon.
